Hey Reader, Thanks for checking out The Savvy Saige Monthly Newsletter! πHere in Tennessee, spring tends to come early. While I love a good snow day, I am grateful for the sunshine and open windows! Since spring is a great time to declutter and deep clean, here are my latest blog posts pertaining to natural cleaning. βHomemade Streak-Free Glass and Window Cleanerβ
Windex is arguably the most well-known glass and window cleaner. It has been around for years and most people like the results that it produces. I know I used to use it constantly. However, with desiring to reduce toxin exposure in my home, I decided to make my own glass and window cleaner. With just two ingredients, I get a streak-free finish every time! βEasy DIY All-Purpose Cleaner (Without Vinegar)β
Everyone needs a go-to all-purpose cleaner recipe, but not everyone is a fan of vinegar. If thatβs you, this DIY cleaner is for you! FYI, it only costs $0.51 per bottle to make π. βHomemade Citrus Vinegar Cleaning Sprayβ
Homemade citrus vinegar cleaning spray is an easy and effective all-purpose cleaner that will put even the scraps to good use. Simply save your lemon rinds or orange peels (you can even use limes and grapefruit) the next time you are in the kitchen. Let them soak in vinegar for about 2 weeks, and you'll end up with an all-natural citrus vinegar concentrate. It is a great degreaser and disinfectant. βHomemade All-Purpose Cleaner with Vinegarβ
This is my very first all-purpose cleaning spray that I began making when I wanted to avoid unnecessary chemicals. It is inexpensive, quick to make, and a great all-around cleaner for most surfaces. For surfaces that aren't recommended for cleaning with vinegar, I simply use my all-purpose cleaner without vinegar (listed above). βHow to Make Lavender Vinegar for Natural Cleaningβ
Lavender vinegar is a great herbal addition to any household focused on natural cleaning. Similar to the citrus vinegar cleaning spray, simply let your dried lavender flowers infuse into distilled white vinegar for a couple of weeks in order to make a concentrate. Combine with water and you are ready to clean! Natural Cleaning Supplies Homemade cleaning products are super simple to make and save you a ton of money in the process. Here a few basic supplies and ingredients to get you started. Product #1: Amber Glass Spray Bottlesβ Product #2: Distilled White Vinegarβ Product #3: Liquid Castile Soapβ Product #4: Dried Lavender Flowersβ Product #5: Isopropyl Alcoholβ Product #6: Essential Oilsβ The glass spray bottles are a really good one-time investment that can be used again and again. Since they are amber in color, if you choose to use essential oils in any of your DIY cleaners, they won't be effected by sunlight. π Looking ahead: I have been focused on natural cleaning a lot lately, and I believe that is going to continue π. I am currently working on posts for a multi-surface bathroom cleaner and an all-natural liquid fabric softener. Since this is only a monthly newsletter, be sure to check the blog before the next email is sent out. You won't want miss any of my homemade cleaning products recipes that I will be posting next! Cheers to living a beautiful life! π -Julie @thesavvysaige
